Academics

At Pickens County School District (PCSD), we are dedicated to our mission to educate our students in a safe and fiscally responsible environment. We also are committed to our vision of "Graduation and Life Preparation for All" and that all students will learn to their full potential. We know that a high school diploma is critical for today’s students, but a diploma alone is not enough to ensure success after high school. With that in mind, our goal is to ensure that all PCSD students are prepared to pursue their chosen paths — whether they are enrolled, enlisted, or employed — and to succeed on those paths after high school.

Pickens County School District offers a robust Athletics program. Our Connections courses at Pickens Junior High follows the traditional Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways which allow students to apply mathematics, science, and communication competencies in laboratory and occupational settings that develop specific technical skills applicable in broad concentration areas. In addition to CTAE classes, Connections also includes fine arts and physical education. Curriculum incorporates Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) in all content areas.

  • School Advisory Committee

    School Advisory Council

Local School Councils (LSC) were established as a result of Georgia's A+ Education Reform Act of 2000. This legislation required that all schools in Georgia establish Local Councils by October 1, 2003. The purpose of the LSC is to bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult educational problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision-making process.
