Grief
Many people believe that grief is the outward display of feelings about a significant loss – that grief is something you can observe. This common, yet incorrect belief, leads to many problems when it comes to understanding and helping a grieving person.
Grief is the internal anguish bereaved persons feel in reaction to a loss that they have experienced. Internal responses to death may include emotions such as anger, guilt, relief, fear and sadness; thought processes like understanding and believing that the person is gone; or even physical responses such as sleeplessness, stomach-aches, headaches or loss of appetite.
