IMPORTANT GRADE RECONFIGURATION INFORMATION - As you know, PCSD is reconfiguring its grade structure in 2027-28 (next year). Parents/guardians of elementary students should go to their Parent Portal in Infinite Campus to confirm or appeal their student’s placement by October 31st. Trunk or Treat is back with a new combined event...Grill 'n' Chill! This is an opportunity to tailgate before the Gilmer game, wear Halloween costumes, eat good food, have great conversations, and make strong connections. The event will be held on October 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Consider creating a trunk or bringing food to grill for our community! We were proud to celebrate our Students of the Month at this month’s Student of the Month Breakfast! Families joined us as each student was presented with a certificate and medal recognizing this special achievement.
Teachers also shared words of praise about each student and explained the qualities, accomplishments, and character that led to their selection. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize these students and celebrate all the ways they make a positive impact at PJHS.

👓 Mass Vision Screening — Friday, October 2
We will be conducting an in-school mass vision screening tomorrow, Friday, October 2.
Students who are screened will receive a paper copy of their screening results to take home to their parent/guardian.
Any student identified as needing a referral will be directed to our School-Based Health Center, Dragon Care.
Dragon Care partners with the Lions Club, Walmart Vision, and Dr. Holloway to help provide students with free or reduced-cost eye exams and low- to no-cost eyeglasses.
We are grateful for these community partnerships that help support the vision needs of our students! 👓

With a virtual learning day tomorrow, PJHS celebrated Fun Friday a day early today!
Students who demonstrated positive behavior — with no office referrals and three or fewer minor incidents — earned some time to relax, have fun, and enjoy being together. Students played ball, grabbed some snacks, and spent time hanging out with friends. 🏀🍿😎
Fun Friday is a PJHS behavior initiative designed to recognize and reward students who make good choices and help create a positive school environment.

PJHS celebrated Dolly Day by recognizing Dolly Parton’s incredible legacy and her lifelong support of literacy with a schoolwide book exchange!
Students brought in gently used books and had the opportunity to choose a new-to-them book to take home. With four tables full of books and lots of enthusiastic participation, it was a great way to share stories, discover something new, and celebrate the joy of reading.
A big thank-you to everyone who participated and helped make our Bookin’ 9 to 5 Book Exchange such a success! 💛📖

PJHS was proud to recognize eight outstanding Students of the Month for August at a special breakfast in the media center.
Our 7th Grade Students of the Month were:
Jack Ray, Easton Maddox, Josie Bozeman, and Brailey Fowler
Our 8th Grade Students of the Month were:
Mathias Lanford, Eliza Haynes, Hannah Smith, and Bryce Wigington
Students and their parents enjoyed a continental breakfast, and each honoree received a medal and certificate. Teacher comments were also shared for each student, explaining why they were selected and highlighting the qualities that make them such positive representatives of PJHS.
We were honored to have district leaders join us for the celebration, including Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas, Assistant Superintendent Chris Parker, and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Abby May. Principal Dr. Kanyon Petti and Assistant Principal Kim Hamilton presented the awards.

Our students did an amazing job showing up in August! Our school maintained an average daily attendance rate of over 95% for the entire month, so today we celebrated with ice cream treats at lunch! 🍨
But today is September 1, which means a new month (and a new challenge) starts now!
Students, keep showing up and being present each day. Let’s make it two months in a row with 95%+ attendance and earn another school-wide reward day!

Yesterday, our PREP students were hard at work helping create shirts for PJHS! Our students helped with preparing the designs, pressing, checking, and organizing each shirt. They take great pride in their work, and they love helping serve Dragon Nation.
These projects give our students meaningful, hands-on experience while helping them develop valuable workplace skills such as teamwork, attention to detail, quality control, and responsibility. We are so proud of their hard work and thankful to PJHS and Coach Raymond for supporting our students and giving them the opportunity to learn, grow, and shine!
